Job Summary

The Piping Design Engineer will be responsible for the design, modeling, and drafting of piping systems for engineering and manufacturing projects. The role requires hands-on experience in piping layouts, P&ID interpretation, 2D/3D modeling, material take-offs, and use of industry-standard design software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Revit, and Navisworks.

The position involves preparing detailed piping drawings, coordinating with vendors and internal stakeholders, ensuring compliance with applicable industry standards, and supporting tooling, fixtures, and New Product Development (NPD) activities.

Key ResponsibilitiesPiping Design & Drafting

Develop and prepare detailed piping drawings based on P&IDs, GAs, pipe specifications, and equipment layouts. Create 2D and 3D piping models, including routing studies and layout optimization. Review and update Bills of Materials (BOM) generated from design models.
Material Take-Offs

Prepare accurate material take-offs for pipes, fittings, valves, and accessories. Support project cost estimation and planning activities.
Standards & Compliance

Ensure designs comply with applicable industry codes and standards such as: API, ASTM, ASME B31.3, ASME B31.4, DOT, OSHA, CFR Title 49 Part 192.
Project Coordination

Review vendor and internal drawings for compliance with technical and project specifications. Coordinate with cross-functional teams including Quality, Procurement, Production, and NPD to meet project timelines and requirements.
On-Site Support

Take field measurements and incorporate site inputs into design updates. Support validation of piping drawings with site and fabrication teams.
Tooling & NPD Support

Design jigs and fixtures to support manufacturing processes. Develop tooling receiver gauges. Provide technical design support for New Product Development initiatives.
