The Piping Design Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and detailing piping systems for industrial, commercial, and infrastructure projects. The role involves creating 2D/3D piping layouts, isometric drawings, and material specifications, ensuring compliance with relevant engineering codes and project requirements.
Experience
Minimum 2 years of experience in oil & gas, petrochemical, water treatment, power plant, or industrial projects.
Key Responsibilities
Develop 2D layouts and 3D piping models using AutoCAD, AutoCAD Plant 3D, PDMS, E3D, or Revit (as applicable).
Prepare P&IDs, piping layouts, GA drawings, isometric drawings, and MTO (Material Take-Off).
Perform routing of pipes, considering accessibility, maintenance, safety, and structural constraints.
Coordinate with process, mechanical, civil/structural, instrumentation, and electrical teams.
Ensure compliance with ASME, ANSI, API, and other relevant international standards.
Review and interpret equipment GA drawings, vendor documents, and PFD/P&IDs.
Support piping stress analysis teams by providing necessary inputs.
Identify clashes and resolve them using 3D modeling tools (e.g., Navisworks).
Prepare support drawings and coordinate with structural teams for pipe supports.
Participate in design reviews and implement changes as required.
Ensure timely delivery of drawings and documents as per project schedule.
Skills & Qualifications
Educational Qualification:
Diploma / B.E / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in AutoCAD, AutoCAD Plant 3D, PDMS/E3D, Revit MEP, or similar software.
Knowledge of ASME B31.3, B31.1, API, and relevant piping codes.
Understanding of P&IDs, equipment drawings, and plant layouts.
Basic knowledge of piping stress analysis tools like CAESAR II (optional but preferred).
Soft Skills:
Ability to communicate in English.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Good analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to work under deadlines with a detail-oriented approach.
