Job Description

Blueprint Interpretation:

Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to understand the layout and requirements of piping systems.

Pipe Installation:

Cut, thread, and weld pipes according to specifications. Install and assemble pipes and fittings, ensuring proper alignment and positioning. Select appropriate materials and tools for each project.

System Maintenance and Repair:

Conduct routine inspections to identify and repair leaks, malfunctions, or other issues in the piping systems. Perform preventive maintenance to ensure the longevity and efficiency of piping systems.

Quality Control:

Conduct quality checks on completed work to ensure adherence to specifications and industry standards.

Collaboration:

Work closely with other professionals, including welders, plumbers, and engineers, to coordinate activities and ensure project success. Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members.

Safety Compliance:

Adhere to safety regulations and protocols to maintain a secure working environment. Use personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow safety guidelines at all times.

Qualifications and Skills:

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent. Vocational or technical training in pipe fitting is preferred.

Experience:

Proven experience as a pipe fitter in a shipyard or similar environment.

Technical Skills:

Proficiency in using tools such as pipe cutters, threaders, and welding equipment. Strong understanding of different types of pipes, fittings, and materials.

Physical Fitness:

Ability to lift and move heavy materials. Stamina to work in physically demanding conditions.

Problem-Solving:

Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot and address issues effectively.
