We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate
Physician Assistant (PA)
to join our Nephrology team. The PA will work collaboratively with physicians to provide comprehensive care to patients with acute and chronic kidney diseases, including those on dialysis and with complex comorbidities. The ideal candidate will have a strong clinical background, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to providing high-quality nephrology care.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform comprehensive and problem-focused histories and physical exams on nephrology patients in inpatient and outpatient settings.
Assess, diagnose, and manage acute and chronic kidney diseases, including hypertension, electrolyte imbalances, and fluid disorders.
Monitor and manage dialysis patients (hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis) in coordination with nephrologists and dialysis teams.
Order and interpret laboratory and diagnostic tests relevant to kidney health.
Prescribe medications and manage therapeutic regimens under physician supervision.
Provide patient education on kidney disease management, dialysis modalities, transplant preparation, and lifestyle modifications.
Assist in the evaluation and preparation of patients for kidney transplantation.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and clinical research if applicable.
Document all encounters thoroughly and in a timely manner in the electronic medical record (EMR).
Collaborate with physicians, nurses, dietitians, and social workers to ensure coordinated and comprehensive patient care.
Qualifications:
Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
Current PA-C certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
Licensed (or eligible) as a Physician Assistant in the state of [Insert State].
Current BLS/ACLS certification.
Prior experience in nephrology or internal medicine preferred but not required.
Strong clinical judgment, interpersonal, and communication skills.
EMR proficiency (Epic experience a plus).
Working Conditions:
Hospital, outpatient clinic, and dialysis unit settings.
Occasional on-call responsibilities and weekend coverage may be required.
