Job Description

Patient assessment:

Conduct detailed cardiovascular histories, perform physical examinations, and review diagnostic test results and lab work.

Diagnosis and management:

Diagnose and manage a wide range of cardiovascular conditions, including coronary artery disease, heart failure, arrhythmias, and hypertension.

Treatment planning:

Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with cardiologists and other members of the care team.

Procedure assistance:

Assist cardiologists in performing procedures, such as cardiac catheterizations, stress tests, and other interventions.

Medication management:

Prescribe and titrate cardiac medications, monitor therapeutic responses, and adjust treatment plans as needed.

Patient education:

Educate patients and their families on disease prevention, lifestyle modifications, medication adherence, and symptom management.

Administrative duties:

Perform daily rounds, manage patient admissions and discharges, and document patient encounters thoroughly in electronic medical records.

Clinical collaboration:

Work with other healthcare providers, including intensivists and surgical teams, to ensure continuity and coordination of care.
Essential skills and qualifications

Advanced education:

A master's degree from an accredited PA program is required.

Certification:

National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) certification is necessary.

Clinical skills:

Proficiency in interpreting cardiovascular diagnostic tests and performing clinical procedures.

Communication:

Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals.

Attention to detail:

Meticulous attention to detail is critical for tasks like documenting patient encounters and managing medication regimens.

Collaboration:

Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
