We are seeking a dynamic, detail-oriented, and compassionate
Physician Assistant (PA)
to support the clinical and research functions of a leading breast oncoplastic surgeon. The role is split equally between patient-facing OPD responsibilities and backend research/data coordination. Candidates must have experience working in an allopathy-based healthcare setting, preferably in chronic or non-infectious disease clinics such as oncology, endocrinology, cardiology, etc.
Experience Required:
2-3 years
of hands-on experience in a medical clinic or hospital setting, preferably in oncology or chronic disease management.
Prior experience assisting a
surgeon or specialist
in outpatient settings is essential.
Exposure to
oncology
, particularly
breast cancer care
, is highly desirable.
Educational Qualifications:
BHMS / BAMS
with substantial allopathic exposure,
OR
Master's in Physician Assistant Studies,
OR
Any health sciences graduate with strong clinical acumen and patient interaction skills in an allopathy-focused setup.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Clinical Assistance (OPD Support - 50%)
Assist the lead breast oncoplastic surgeon during OPD consultations Conduct pre-consultation assessments: record vitals, history, symptoms, medication review.
Document real-time clinical notes during consultations into paper-based and electronic health records (EHR).
Prepare patients for physical exams, imaging, biopsies, and minor procedures.
Follow up on investigations, reports, and inter-department referrals (radiology, pathology, etc.).
Assist in surgical scheduling: inform patients, prepare consent documents, and liaise with the OT team.
Communicate post-surgical instructions, and help manage minor complications under supervision.
2. Data & Research Coordination (50%)
Maintain accurate and updated clinical and research databases.
Extract clinical data and treatment histories to generate case summaries for academic, audit, and publication purposes.
Support the creation of case reports, literature reviews, and clinical presentations.
Coordinate with the Research Unit to ensure timely and accurate documentation of study patients.
Track patient outcomes and follow-up statuses across treatment phases.
3. Interdisciplinary Counselling Coordination
Schedule and coordinate counselling sessions for patients:
? Genetic counselling
? Onco-nutrition
? Onco-psychology
Research Projects Counselling, recruiting and consent coordination
Act as the point of contact between patients, families, and specialists for seamless care.
4. Administrative & Support Tasks
Ensure all patient paperwork, consent forms, and summaries are organized and complete.
Maintain clear communication with the research and clinical operations team.
Ensure timely submission of diagnostic codes, patient records, and billing forms.
Participate in internal audits, SOP reviews, and quality control checks.
Attend CME sessions, journal clubs, and educational workshops to stay updated on breast cancer care.
Skills & Attributes:
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
High degree of empathy and patient sensitivity.
Strong organizational and documentation skills.
Familiarity with hospital information systems and electronic health records (preferred).
Working knowledge of clinical literature and evidence-based medicine.
Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
Additional Notes:
Position requires physical presence during OPD hours and flexibility to assist during procedures/surgeries if required.
