I. Position Overview
The Physical Education (P.E.) Coach will design and lead age-appropriate fitness and movement sessions for primary and secondary students. This is a full-time position requiring daily coordination with the Education Program Lead.
The coach will create a safe, inclusive environment where students develop motor skills, healthy habits, teamwork, and a love for physical activity. The role includes lesson planning, progress tracking, and integrating physical education into the overall vision of holistic child development at AIC.
The coach is expected to contribute to a joyful and active school culture while working closely with teachers, counsellors, and families.
III. Key Duties and Responsibilities
Design and conduct engaging P.E. classes for primary and secondary students.
Teach fundamental movement skills such as running, jumping, balancing, coordination, and endurance.
Build fitness through age-appropriate exercises, circuits, games, and activities.
Introduce students to various non-specialized sports and group games suited to limited infrastructure.
Promote teamwork, discipline, cooperation, and positive social behaviour through sports.
Prepare weekly and long-term P.E. lesson plans aligned with AIC's holistic development goals.
Conduct warm-ups, skill-building activities, structured games, and cool-downs.
Ensure student safety, follow injury-prevention protocols, and administer basic first aid if needed.
Innovate and adapt activities to small spaces or limited resources.
Track attendance, participation, and student progress; maintain P.E. portfolios.
Identify students who need additional physical or behavioural support and collaborate with counsellors.
Organize Sports Day, inter-class activities, fitness challenges, and outdoor learning events.
Accompany and supervise students during camps, excursions, and other off-site activities.
Conduct regular basti visits to encourage families to support physical activity at home.
Attend staff meetings, training, and professional development sessions.
Uphold strong behaviour management and maintain an inclusive, respectful learning environment.
Support AIC-wide events, festivals, and initiatives as a member of the larger education team.
IV. Desired Candidate Profile
Full fluency in English and Hindi - written and oral (required)
Bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Sports Science, or related field (preferred)
Minimum 1-2 years of experience teaching P.E. or coaching children, preferably in under-resourced settings
Ability to manage mixed-age and mixed-skill groups effectively
Strong understanding of child safety, physical development, and inclusive practices
Computer literacy and comfort with digital planning tools
Energetic, patient, and student-centered teaching approach
Willingness to innovate, learn, and engage in professional development
Excellent communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills
