The Ph.D. Guide in Political Science will supervise and mentor doctoral research scholars, providing academic guidance and ensuring that research work meets the highest standards of quality, originality, and ethics. The role involves promoting advanced research in areas such as political theory, comparative politics, public administration, international relations, and Indian political thought, contributing to the overall research output and academic reputation of the department.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise Ph.D. scholars in Political Science in accordance with University and UGC guidelines.
Guide scholars in identifying suitable research topics and developing sound research proposals.
Conduct regular review meetings to assess research progress and provide constructive feedback.
Assist scholars in developing research design, methodologies, and analytical frameworks.
Ensure research work upholds academic integrity and adheres to ethical standards.
Encourage scholars to publish research papers in reputed national and international journals.
Participate in Research Advisory Committee (RAC) and doctoral committee meetings.
Contribute to departmental academic activities including seminars, workshops, and conferences.
Pursue independent research and publications in relevant areas of Political Science.
Support institutional research initiatives and collaborations with other universities or organizations.
Eligibility Criteria (As per UGC Norms):
Educational Qualification:
Ph.D. in Political Science from a recognized university.
Experience:
Minimum of 8 years of teaching and/or research experience in a recognized institution.
Publications:
At least two publications in refereed journals (as per UGC CARE / Scopus / Web of Science).
Other Requirements:
Must meet the eligibility norms for recognition as a Ph.D. Supervisor as prescribed by the University and UGC.
Skills and Competencies:
Strong academic background in Political Science with specialization in one or more areas (e.g., Indian Government and Politics, International Relations, Public Policy, Political Theory).
Excellent research, analytical, and academic writing skills.
Ability to mentor scholars and foster an environment of academic inquiry.
Familiarity with research methodologies, statistical tools, and citation standards.
Effective communication, coordination, and leadership abilities.
Desirable Attributes:
Experience in guiding M.Phil. or Ph.D. scholars.
Active involvement in funded or collaborative research projects.
Participation in academic bodies, conferences, and scholarly associations related to Political Science.
