Medical Superintendent / Hospital Administrator / Store Manager
Job Summary
The Pharmacy Incharge is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the pharmacy, ensuring safe dispensing of medicines, maintaining inventory, complying with statutory regulations, and leading the pharmacy team to deliver high-quality patient care.
Key ResponsibilitiesOperational Management
Manage day-to-day pharmacy operations and workflow
Ensure accurate dispensing of medicines as per prescriptions
Maintain proper storage conditions for drugs (temperature, humidity, cold chain)
Prevent medication errors and ensure patient safety
Inventory & Procurement
Monitor stock levels and ensure timely procurement of medicines and consumables
Maintain minimum/maximum stock levels to avoid shortages or expiries
Conduct regular stock audits and reconciliation
Handle expired, damaged, and near-expiry stock as per SOP
Regulatory & Compliance
Ensure compliance with Drug & Cosmetic Act and Pharmacy Council regulations
Maintain statutory records (Schedule H/H1/X registers, narcotics, psychotropic drugs)
Coordinate with drug inspectors and auditors during inspections
Ensure pharmacy licenses and renewals are up to date
Team Management
Supervise pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and assistants
Prepare duty rosters and manage shifts
Train staff on SOPs, safety standards, and new medications
Evaluate staff performance and address disciplinary issues
Patient & Clinical Support
Counsel patients on medication usage, dosage, and precautions
Coordinate with doctors and nurses for medication-related queries
Ensure availability of emergency and lifesaving drugs
Support clinical audits and medication reviews
Reporting & Documentation
Prepare daily, monthly, and annual pharmacy reports
Track consumption trends and cost control
Maintain proper documentation and filing systems
Qualifications
Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) / Diploma in Pharmacy (D.Pharm)
Registered with
State Pharmacy Council
Additional certification in hospital pharmacy is an advantage
Experience
3-6 years
of experience in hospital or retail pharmacy
Minimum
1-2 years
in a supervisory or incharge role preferred
