Reports To: Medical Superintendent / Hospital Administrator
Job Summary:
The Pharmacy In-Charge is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the hospital pharmacy, ensuring safe dispensing of medicines, proper inventory control, compliance with statutory regulations, and effective supervision of pharmacy staff.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise and manage day-to-day pharmacy operations.
Ensure accurate dispensing of medicines as per doctor's prescriptions.
Maintain proper stock levels; monitor expiry, near-expiry, and damaged items.
Indent, receive, and verify medicines and medical supplies.
Ensure compliance with Drug & Cosmetics Act and hospital policies.
Maintain pharmacy records, registers, and documentation.
Monitor narcotic and high-risk drugs as per legal requirements.
Handle audits, inspections, and reporting.
Guide, train, and monitor pharmacy staff and trainees.
Coordinate with doctors, nurses, and purchase department.
Ensure cleanliness, discipline, and patient safety in the pharmacy.
Report incidents, medication errors, or shortages to management immediately.
Qualifications & Requirements:
D.Pharm / B.Pharm (Mandatory)
Minimum 2-5 years experience in hospital pharmacy (preferred)
Good knowledge of medicines and inventory systems
Basic computer knowledge (billing/software)
Strong leadership and communication skills
