Job Title: Pharmacognosy Executive / Pharmacognosist.
Department: R&D / Pharmacognosy.
Location: Lakkenahalli Village, Solur Hobli, Magadi Talik, Ramangar dist - 562127.

Job Summary:The R&D Associate (Pharmacognosy Executive) will be responsible for the authentication, evaluation, and quality assessment of herbal raw materials using pharmacognostical, botanical, and microscopic techniques. The role supports R&D, Production, and Quality Control functions by ensuring the authenticity, purity, and compliance of medicinal plant materials in line with regulatory and internal standards.

Key Responsibilities:
A. Herbal Raw Material Authentication:
1. Authenticate herbal raw materials using taxonomic, organoleptic, macroscopic, and microscopic techniques.
2. Identify adulterants and substitutes in crude drugs and herbal ingredients.
3. Perform comparative pharmacognosy studies with reference samples.

B. Pharmacognosy & Laboratory Activities:
1.Conduct microscopic analysis, histochemistry, and staining techniques for plant materials.
2.Perform free-hand sectioning of various plant parts (root, stem, leaf, bark, rhizome, etc.).
3.Assess purity by evaluating foreign matter and contaminants.

C. Documentation & Compliance:
1.Prepare and maintain Pharmacognosy Reports, Herb Authentication Procedure (HAP) documents, and Common Technical Documents (CTD) for herbal raw materials.
2.Ensure accurate documentation for QC, R&D, and regulatory compliance (AYUSH / EU guidelines where applicable).
3. Maintain proper records for sampling, testing, and reporting activities.

D. Cross-functional Support:
1.Coordinate with R&D, Production, QC, and Procurement teams for raw material evaluation.
2.Support formulation teams by providing pharmacognostic inputs for herbal products.
3.Assist in vendor qualification through raw material authentication.

E. Research & Development:
1.Conduct research on critical medicinal herbs such as Tinospora cordifolia, Cinnamomum zeylanicum, Berberis aristata, and Hedychium spicatum.
2.Support research projects related to medicinal plants, herbal standardization, and product development.

Qualifications & Experience:
1. M.Sc. in Botany / Pharmacognosy / Plant Sciences.
2. 3-5 years of experience in Pharmacognosy, Herbal QC, or R&D (internship experience included).
3. Experience in herbal, nutraceutical, Ayurvedic, or natural product industries.
4.Knowledge of regulatory guidelines related to herbal and plant-based products.

Skills & Competencies:
1.Strong knowledge of medicinal plants and crude drugs.
2.Expertise in microscopy, histochemistry, and botanical identification.
3.Good documentation and report-writing skills.
4.Attention to detail and analytical mindset.
5.Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
6.Ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams.
