The Pharmacist is responsible for preparing, dispensing, and reviewing medications to ensure safe and effective use. They provide patient counseling, collaborate with healthcare professionals, and ensure compliance with legal and professional standards.
Key Responsibilities
Dispense prescription medications accurately and safely
Review prescriptions for accuracy, interactions, and contraindications
Counsel patients on medication use, dosage, side effects, and storage
Monitor patient medication therapy and outcomes
Maintain accurate patient records and documentation
Ensure compliance with pharmacy laws, regulations, and policies
Supervise pharmacy technicians and support staff
Manage inventory, storage, and ordering of medications
Provide immunizations and health screenings (where authorized)
Communicate with physicians and healthcare providers regarding prescriptions
Qualifications
Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree
Valid pharmacist license (state/country specific)
Strong knowledge of pharmacology and medication therapy
Excellent communication and customer service skills
