The Pharmacist is responsible for preparing, dispensing, and reviewing prescriptions to ensure patient safety and effective medication use. This role involves providing expert advice on the safe use of medicines, monitoring patient health outcomes, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and ethical standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Review and interpret prescriptions to ensure accuracy, legality, and appropriateness.
Prepare, compound, and dispense prescribed medications.
Advise patients and healthcare professionals on the correct usage, side effects, and interactions of medicines.
Monitor patient medication therapies to prevent adverse reactions or interactions.
Maintain accurate patient medication records and pharmacy inventory.
Ensure compliance with all pharmacy laws, regulations, and standards.
Supervise pharmacy assistants and technicians in daily operations.
Provide immunization services (where permitted).
Conduct health and wellness screenings or medication therapy management sessions.
Stay updated on new medications, pharmaceutical research, and developments.
Qualifications and Skills:
Education:
Bachelor's or Doctor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm / Pharm.D / M.Pharm) degree.
Licensure:
Must hold a valid pharmacy license as required by local regulatory authorities.
Experience:
Prior experience in retail, hospital, or clinical pharmacy preferred.
Skills:
Strong knowledge of pharmacology and drug interactions.
Excellent communication and counseling skills.
Attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to manage time and work in a team environment.
Proficiency in pharmacy management software (if applicable).
Work Environment:
Pharmacists may work in hospitals, community pharmacies, clinics, or healthcare institutions. The role may require standing for long periods, handling prescriptions, and interacting directly with patients and healthcare professionals.
