Dispensing Medications: Pharmacists accurately fill prescriptions, ensuring the correct medication, dosage, and route of administration are followed. Patient Counseling: They educate patients on how to take their medications, potential side effects, and interactions with other drugs or conditions. Medication Therapy Management: Pharmacists monitor patients' medication regimens, identify potential problems (like drug interactions or adverse reactions), and work with doctors to optimize treatment plans. Quality Assurance: This includes maintaining the quality of medications, monitoring drug inventories, and reporting adverse drug reactions. Health Screenings: Some pharmacists conduct health screenings, such as blood pressure checks or cholesterol monitoring, and provide information about preventative care. Inventory Management: They ensure the pharmacy has adequate stock of medications and that they are stored properly. Regulatory Compliance: Pharmacists must adhere to all applicable laws and regulations related to the practice of pharmacy. Collaboration with Healthcare Professionals: They communicate with doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient care. Where Pharmacists Work: Retail Pharmacies: In drug stores, grocery stores, or big box stores, providing medications and advice to the public.
