is responsible for ensuring the safe, effective, and lawful dispensing of medications to inpatients and outpatients. The role involves maintaining accurate medication records, managing pharmacy inventory, supporting clinical staff, and ensuring compliance with hospital policies and statutory regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Dispense prescribed medications accurately to inpatients and outpatients.
Review prescriptions for accuracy, dosage, interactions, and contraindications.
Maintain proper storage conditions for medicines, including cold-chain items.
Monitor stock levels and ensure timely procurement of medicines and consumables.
Maintain pharmacy inventory, batch tracking, and expiry monitoring.
Ensure compliance with
Drugs and Cosmetics Act
, hospital policies, and NABH standards (if applicable).
Counsel patients on medication usage, dosage, side effects, and precautions.
Coordinate with doctors, nurses, and hospital staff for medication-related queries.
Maintain daily pharmacy records, billing coordination, and statutory registers.
Handle emergency drug requirements efficiently.
Ensure cleanliness, safety, and organization of the pharmacy area.
Report adverse drug reactions (ADR) and medication errors as per protocol.
Qualifications & Requirements
Degree/Diploma:
B.Pharm / D.Pharm (Mandatory)
Registration:
Registered with State Pharmacy Council
Experience:
Freshers or
1-3 years of experience in a hospital pharmacy preferred
Knowledge of hospital pharmacy operations and drug management systems.
Familiarity with generic and branded medicines.
Basic computer skills and pharmacy software knowledge preferred.
