The Pharmacist is responsible for dispensing medicines accurately, maintaining inventory, and ensuring safe and effective use of pharmaceuticals within the hospital. The role requires strong attention to detail, knowledge of drug interactions, and excellent patient service.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Dispensing & Prescription Handling
Accurately dispense prescribed medications to in-patients and out-patients as per the doctor's orders.
Review prescriptions to ensure correct dosage, drug interactions, and proper labelling.
Provide clear instructions to patients on medication usage and side effects.
2. Inventory & Stock Management
Maintain adequate stock levels of medicines and consumables.
Conduct regular stock audits and monitor expiry dates.
Ensure proper storage conditions for all medicines and controlled substances.
Coordinate with suppliers for timely procurement of drugs and consumables.
3. Compliance & Documentation
Maintain records of narcotic and scheduled drugs as per Drug Control regulations.
Ensure compliance with hospital policies, NABH standards, and statutory pharmacy rules.
Support internal and external audits by maintaining accurate pharmacy records.
4. Patient & Departmental Support
Support doctors and nurses with accurate and timely drug information.
Provide medication counseling to patients when required.
Ensure safe handling and disposal of expired or damaged medicines.
5. Quality & Safety
Follow hospital infection control and safety protocols.
Ensure quality assurance in all pharmacy operations.
Report medication errors or adverse drug reactions as per hospital policy.
Qualifications & Experience:
Educational Qualification:
B.Pharm / D.Pharm
from a recognized institution.
Experience:
Minimum 1 year experience preferred
(hospital or clinical pharmacy experience desirable).
License:
Must be a
Registered Pharmacist
under the State Pharmacy Council.

Remuneration:
Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
