Key Responsibilities
Dispensing & Patient Care
Accurately dispense prescription and OTC medicines as per the doctor's prescription.
Counsel patients on the proper use, dosage, and side effects of medications.
Advise on health, lifestyle, and minor ailments where appropriate.
Compliance & Legal
Ensure compliance with the
Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940
and Pharmacy Act, 1948.
Maintain proper documentation of prescriptions, drug registers (especially Schedule H, H1, X drugs).
Ensure that only licensed pharmacists handle dispensing.
Inventory & Operations
Manage stock levels, check expiry dates, and ensure availability of essential medicines.
Place purchase orders with vendors/wholesalers as required.
Maintain storage conditions (temperature, humidity) as per regulatory standards.
Customer Service
Provide excellent service and build trust with customers.
Handle billing, insurance claims (if applicable), and resolve queries professionally.
Quality & Safety
Ensure medicines are stored safely and dispensed accurately.
Monitor for drug interactions, contraindications, and duplicate therapy.
Adhere to standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Requirements
Educational Qualification
: Diploma in Pharmacy (D.Pharm) or Bachelor's in Pharmacy (B.Pharm) from a recognized institution.
License
: Must be a
Registered Pharmacist
with the State Pharmacy Council of KERALA
Experience
: Minimum 1-2 years in a retail/community pharmacy preferred (freshers with good knowledge may also apply).
Skills
:
Strong knowledge of medicines, interactions, and pharmacy law.
Excellent communication & customer service skills.
Attention to detail, accuracy, and ethical practice.
Basic computer knowledge (billing software, MS Office).
