Key Responsibilities:



Dispense Medications:

Accurately dispense prescription medications to patients, ensuring correct dosage, labeling, and documentation in compliance with regulatory standards.

Patient Counseling:

Provide comprehensive counseling on medication use, including dosage instructions, potential side effects, drug interactions, and storage recommendations.

Medication Management:

Monitor and manage medication therapy, ensuring that patients are adhering to their prescribed treatment plans and adjusting therapies when necessary.

Collaborate with Healthcare Teams:

Work closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure the proper selection and administration of medications.

Review Prescriptions:

Verify prescriptions for accuracy, potential drug interactions, and contraindications, resolving any issues with the prescriber if necessary.

Inventory Management:

Oversee the ordering, storage, and stocking of medications, ensuring that supplies are maintained in compliance with legal and safety standards.

Regulatory Compliance:

Ensure adherence to all local, state, and federal regulations related to the dispensing of medications and the operation of a pharmacy.

Pharmacovigilance:

Monitor patients for adverse drug reactions and report these to the relevant authorities as required.

Patient Education:

Provide information on health conditions, disease prevention, and the proper use of non-prescription products.

Quality Assurance:

Participate in pharmacy quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of policies and procedures for safe and effective medication use.

Qualifications:



Education:

Bpharm/Dpharm degree or equivalent from an accredited institution.

Licensure:

Valid pharmacist license required

Experience:

Prior experience in a retail, hospital, or clinical pharmacy setting preferred.

Skills:

Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Knowledge of drug therapy, pharmacology, and medication safety practices.

Work Environment:



Work may be performed in a retail pharmacy, hospital, or clinic setting. May involve standing for long periods and interacting directly with patients and healthcare providers. Ability to manage a fast-paced, high-pressure environment with a focus on patient safety and care.
