Job Description

Core Responsibilities:

Dispensing & Accuracy

: Reviewing and filling physician prescriptions, checking for correct dosage, interactions, and appropriateness, then labeling and packaging medications.

Patient Counseling

: Educating patients on how to take their medications, potential side effects, storage, and adherence.

Collaboration

: Consulting with doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to optimize treatment plans and resolve medication issues.

Inventory & Operations

: Managing pharmacy stock, maintaining records (especially for controlled substances), and organizing workflow.

Health Services

: Providing immunizations (like flu shots) and health screenings (blood pressure, cholesterol).
Key Skills & Knowledge:

Strong understanding of pharmacology, drug interactions, and disease states.
Work Settings:

Community Pharmacies (retail, grocery stores) Hospitals & Clinics Long-term care facilities Pharmaceutical Industry (research, development) High attention to detail and accuracy. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for patient/staff interaction. Commitment to continuous learning about new drugs and treatments.
