A Pharmacist is a licensed healthcare professional responsible for preparing, dispensing, and reviewing medications for patients. They ensure the safe and effective use of pharmaceutical drugs, offer advice on drug interactions, dosages, and proper medication storage, and play a key role in patient care and health outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
Dispense prescription medications accurately and efficiently.
Review prescriptions to ensure accuracy and assess patient suitability.
Provide information and advice on drug usage, dosage, side effects, and interactions.
Counsel patients on the proper use of medications.
Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to monitor patient health and progress.
Manage inventory and ensure the proper storage of medications.
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and ethical standards.
Maintain patient records and document interventions and medication histories.
Administer vaccinations and perform health screenings (depending on jurisdiction).
Provide over-the-counter (OTC) medication recommendations.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree from an accredited institution.
Valid state pharmacy license.
Strong knowledge of pharmacology, drug interactions, and medical terminology.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency with pharmacy software systems.
