Job Description

The Pharmacist is responsible for accurate dispensing of medications, inventory management, patient counseling, and ensuring compliance with hospital policies and regulatory guidelines to support safe and effective patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

1? Medication Dispensing & Patient Safety

Review and verify prescriptions for accuracy, dosage, potential interactions, and allergies. Dispense medicines as per physician orders following legal and safety standards. Provide proper labeling and usage instructions to patients. Maintain strict documentation of controlled drugs as per statutory regulations.

2? Medication Storage & Inventory Management

Manage stock levels of medicines and consumables. Ensure proper storage conditions for temperature-sensitive and high-alert drugs. Check expiry dates and perform regular stock audits. Coordinate with procurement team for timely replenishment.

3? Patient & Staff Support

Support nursing/clinical teams regarding drug dosage, administration guidelines, and availability. Handle queries related to medications and availability.

4? Quality & Compliance

Ensure adherence to NABH standards, pharmacy protocols, and drug regulatory laws. Participate in internal audits and quality improvement activities. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pharmacy area.

5? Documentation & Reporting

Maintain computerized billing and stock records (HIS software knowledge preferred). Report medication errors, adverse drug reactions, and stock discrepancies. Assist in preparing monthly pharmacy reports.

Qualification & Requirements

D. Pharm / B. Pharm from a recognized institute. Valid State Pharmacy Council Registration is mandatory. 1-3 years of hospital pharmacy experience preferred. Good knowledge of pharmacology, drug interactions, and hospital formulary. Basic computer skills and knowledge of pharmacy management software.
