The DAV Group - Chennai, functioning under the aegis of Tamil Nadu Arya Samaj Educational Society was established in 1970 at Gopalapuram in Chennai with just 50 students. The Group today, caters to over 40,000 students across Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. It has a staff of 1500 plus which includes 1,200 teachers. Four of our branches have been consistently ranked amongst top 15 schools in the country.

In addition to K-12 schooling, DAV has recently ventured into Higher Education with DAV-SMK Fomra College of Arts & Science at Kelambakkam, Chennai.

DAV is seeking a qualified

English teacher for senior?secondary classes (11 & 12).

The teacher will handle English language and literature classes for higher secondary students, guide them through advanced grammar, literature, writing, comprehension and communication skills, and support their overall academic growth and critical thinking.

Educational Qualification

Master's degree in English (or equivalent postgraduate degree in English literature/language) from a recognized university. B.Ed. (or equivalent teaching qualification) -- or as per school/board norms -- preferred or required. Proficiency in English (both written and spoken), and ability to teach English as per school's medium of instruction.

Roles & Responsibilities

Plan and deliver well-structured lessons in English (language and literature) for classes 11 and 12 -- including prose, poetry, grammar, writing, comprehension and communication skills. Prepare teaching materials, assignments, projects and lesson plans; conduct regular assessments (tests, essays, oral/written tasks) to evaluate student performance. Provide guidance, support and remedial help to students needing extra assistance; mentor them in literature analysis, writing skills, exam preparation. Maintain academic records -- attendance, assignments, exam results, performance tracking. Encourage critical thinking, discussion, creativity and strong command over English; foster reading habits, analytical skills and confident communication. Maintain a disciplined, inclusive, respectful and supportive classroom environment that encourages learning and growth. Collaborate with other faculty/staff for academic planning, school events, co?curricular activities (debates, writing clubs, literary events), and overall school coordination.
