The PGT Physical Education Teacher is responsible for teaching Physical Education to senior secondary students (Classes XI-XII), promoting physical fitness, sportsmanship, and healthy lifestyle habits, while preparing students for board examinations and competitive sports events.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan, prepare, and conduct Physical Education classes as per the prescribed curriculum (CBSE / ICSE / State Board, as applicable).
Teach theory and practical components of Physical Education.
Train students in various sports, games, athletics, yoga, and fitness activities.
Prepare students for Physical Education practical exams and board examinations.
Organize and supervise sports events, inter-school competitions, and annual sports meets.
Maintain sports equipment, playfields, gymnasium, and ensure safety standards.
Assess students' physical fitness, skills, and theoretical knowledge.
Encourage discipline, teamwork, leadership, and sportsmanship among students.
Identify and mentor talented athletes for higher-level competitions.
Participate in curriculum planning, academic meetings, workshops, and training programs.
Coordinate with coaches, sports authorities, and external trainers when required.
Take additional responsibilities such as class teacher duties, exam invigilation, and school activities.
Qualifications & Experience:
Educational Qualification:
Master's Degree in Physical Education (M.P.Ed)
B.P.Ed (Mandatory, if applicable as per board norms)
Experience:
Minimum 2-5 years of teaching/training experience at senior secondary level preferred
Experience in coaching competitive sports is an added advantage
Skills & Competencies:
Strong knowledge of physical education theory and sports science.
Practical expertise in multiple sports and fitness training.
Ability to motivate and mentor students.
Knowledge of safety, first aid, and injury prevention.
Effective classroom and field management skills.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
