Job Description

The PGT Geography teacher is responsible for teaching advanced geographical concepts to students of Classes 11 and 12 as per the CBSE/ICSE/State board curriculum. The role includes lesson planning, classroom teaching, practical map work, field studies, assessments, and guiding students for board exams and higher-level geography studies.

Key ResponsibilitiesTeaching & Curriculum Delivery

Teach senior secondary Geography topics such as: Physical Geography (landforms, climate, oceans, environment) Human Geography (population, settlement, human activities) Economic Geography (industries, agriculture, resources) Cartography & GIS basics Map and globe interpretation Prepare structured lesson plans aligned with board syllabus. Conduct practical sessions including mapwork and case studies.

Assessment & Evaluation

Design worksheets, assignments, projects, and exam papers. Conduct periodic tests, practical assessments, and board exam preparation. Evaluate student performance and provide helpful feedback.

Classroom & Field Activities

Organize field trips, surveys, and geographical observation activities. Promote interactive learning through models, charts, and digital resources. Maintain discipline and create an engaging classroom environment.

Student Development

Motivate learners to develop analytical and spatial thinking abilities. Guide students in geography Olympiads, exhibitions, and academic competitions. Offer academic support through remedial or enrichment classes.

Administrative Duties

Maintain student records, attendance, and academic documentation. Participate in faculty meetings, training programs, and school events. Collaborate with the Social Science department for interdisciplinary projects.

Required Qualifications

Master's degree in Geography

(M.A. / M.Sc. Geography or equivalent).

B.Ed.

is required . Strong knowledge of both physical and human geography.

Skills & Competencies

Excellent subject knowledge and communication skills. Strong map-reading, spatial analysis, and cartography skills. Classroom management and pedagogical planning. Ability to use ICT tools and audio-visual aids effectively. Enthusiastic, patient, and student-centered teaching approach.

Experience

1-3 years of teaching experience at the senior secondary level preferred.
