Job Description

A Post Graduate Teacher (PGT) in English teaches English literature and language to senior secondary students, primarily grades 11 and 12. Key responsibilities include planning and delivering lessons, preparing students for exams like the CBSE board examinations, developing students' skills in grammar, comprehension, creative writing, and critical thinking, and communicating with parents. Key responsibilities

Instruction and planning

: Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans for English Core and Elective courses. Prepare instructional materials, assignments, and assessments aligned with curriculum standards. Deliver engaging lectures and organize classroom activities.

Student development

: Foster students' abilities in grammar, comprehension, creative writing, and literary analysis. Encourage participation in literary and co-curricular activities like debates and writing competitions. Provide individual guidance and support to students who need extra help.

Assessment and feedback

: Evaluate student progress through tests, assignments, and projects. Provide constructive feedback to students on their performance and behavior. Maintain accurate records of student attendance and grades.

Communication and collaboration

: Communicate regularly with parents about student performance and address any concerns. Collaborate with other teachers, department heads, and school administration.

Classroom management

: Maintain an orderly, positive, and disciplined learning environment. Manage classroom crises and resolve conflicts.
Qualifications

Master's degree in English. Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) is often mandatory, depending on the board's norms. Teaching certification for the appropriate grade level. Prior teaching experience, preferably in a secondary or higher secondary setting.
