Role Overview
To guide students in mastering English language and literature as prescribed by the CBSE curriculum, fostering analytical thinking, clear communication, and appreciation for literary expression. The teacher will help students build strong reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills through interactive and reflective learning experiences. The ultimate goal is to prepare students for board examinations while nurturing them into articulate, confident, and empathetic individuals.
Key Responsibilities
Curriculum Delivery:
Teach prose, poetry, grammar, and writing skills as per the CBSE syllabus, ensuring clarity, comprehension, and conceptual understanding.
Exam Preparation:
Systematically prepare students for CBSE board examinations through revision plans, practice papers, and personalized feedback.
Reading & Interpretation:
Encourage close reading, textual analysis, and interpretation of literature to enhance vocabulary, comprehension, and critical appreciation.
Writing Skills:
Develop students' ability to write effectively--covering formats such as letters, essays, articles, reports, and analytical paragraphs.
Speaking & Listening:
Conduct classroom discussions, debates, recitations, and presentations to improve fluency, pronunciation, and listening comprehension.
Assessment:
Design and administer internal assessments, provide meaningful feedback, and maintain records of student progress.
Enrichment Activities:
Organize and encourage participation in literary clubs, dramatics, and creative writing competitions to enhance linguistic and cultural awareness.
Documentation:
Maintain lesson plans, records, and academic reports as per school standards and CBSE requirements.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
The following KPIs are based on the operational standards set by the management of The Academic City School. The numerical precision of these indicators ensures accountability and measurable performance in classroom delivery.
Student Feedback:
Minimum 80% positive feedback through structured surveys.
Parent Feedback:
Minimum 80% positive feedback gathered via periodic surveys.
Syllabi Completion:
100% of the prescribed syllabus to be covered and documented in the syllabi format.
Student Improvement:
Each student should show at least a 10% improvement from the first to subsequent internal assessments.
Academic Performance:
At least 50% of students should score above 75% in internal exams and board assessments.
Skills
Strong command of English language and literature, effective communication, exam-oriented teaching approach, student mentoring, classroom management, and creativity in lesson design.
Qualifications
Master's/Bachelor's degree in English or Literature.
B.Ed. (Experience in teaching Classes 9-10 or handling CBSE board classes preferred).
