1. Role Summary

The PGT Economics & Business Studies teacher is responsible for planning, teaching, and assessing Economics and Business Studies for classes XI & XII as per CBSE curriculum. The role includes developing critical thinking, analytical skills, and a deeper understanding of economic concepts and business environments among students.

2. Key ResponsibilitiesA. Teaching & Classroom Management

Teach

Economics and Business Studies

to senior secondary classes as per CBSE syllabus. Prepare

lesson plans, teaching materials, and assessments

aligned with curriculum requirements. Use innovative teaching strategies - case studies, real-life examples, discussions, simulations, and presentations. Maintain an engaging and positive classroom environment that promotes learning. Integrate technology tools (smartboard, PPTs, videos, online resources) for effective teaching.

B. Student Assessment & Evaluation

Conduct

regular tests, assignments, and projects

to measure student progress. Prepare and evaluate

question papers, answer scripts, and internal assessments

as per CBSE guidelines. Identify learning gaps and provide remedial support or enrichment sessions. Guide students for

Boards, Olympiads, Commerce competitions

, and academic excellence.

C. Curriculum Development

Participate in the design and review of academic plans and schemes of work. Incorporate NEP 2020 recommendations, competency-based education, and experiential learning methods. Update teaching content with current economic data, business trends, policies, and case studies.

D. Student Guidance & Mentoring

Provide academic counselling to students regarding higher education and career options in Commerce. Mentor students in

projects, practical files, presentations

, and research-based learning.

E. Administrative Duties

Maintain accurate student records, attendance, and performance data. Participate in school events, PTMs, club activities, and departmental meetings. Support school policies and contribute to overall school improvement initiatives.

3. Required QualificationsEducational Qualification

Master's Degree

in Economics / Business Studies / Commerce or related discipline with at least 50% marks.

B.Ed.

from a recognized university (mandatory for CBSE schools). CTET (if applicable) preferred.

Experience

Minimum

2-5 years

teaching experience at senior secondary level preferred. Freshers with strong subject knowledge may also be considered.

Skills & Competencies

Strong command of Economics (Micro, Macro) and Business Studies concepts. Excellent communication, presentation, and classroom management skills. Ability to simplify complex concepts using practical examples. Proficient in using digital teaching tools (MS Office, LMS, Smart Classroom). Analytical thinking, student-centric approach, and professional attitude.
