Role Objective:

To execute end-to-end Performance Testing for SAP S/4HANA and its integrated systems, ensuring reliability, scalability, and stability of enterprise applications across UI, API, and backend layers.

The Performance Test Engineer will work closely with the Test Lead, Basis, and Infrastructure teams to design test scripts, execute workloads, analyze results, and provide actionable insights for performance optimization.

Key Responsibilities

Performance Test Design & Planning

A??????? Participate in requirement analysis for SAP S/4HANA applications and all integrated boundary systems, including middleware, APIs, IDocs, batch jobs, and Kafka event flows, to understand business-critical scenarios and Non-Functional Requirements (NFRs).

A??????? Translate SAP and integration NFRs into measurable KPIs?such as dialog response time, API latency, IDoc processing time, batch job runtime, queue throughput, event lag, and system resource utilization across SAP application, HANA DB, middleware, and GCP infrastructure.

A??????? Assist in defining workload models and concurrency patterns?based on SAP Day-in-the-Life operationsaEUR"covering UI (SAP GUI/Fiori), API/OData requests, IDoc triggers, background jobs, file interfaces, and Kafka message burstsaEUR"ensuring realistic simulation of end-to-end business processes.

A??????? Support preparation of the Performance Test Plan?covering SAP modules (MM, SD, WM, FI), non-SAP boundary applications, integration flows, batch job schedules, and event-driven workloadsaEUR"with aligned timelines, entry/exit criteria, and environment dependencies for each release.

Scripting & Test Data Preparation

Develop and maintain performance test scripts using?LoadRunner (SAP GUI, SAP Web, Web HTTP)?and?Apache JMeter ( APIs, Kafka). Implement correlation and parameterization techniques to ensure realistic and reusable scripts. Configure?SAP GUI scripting?for SAP business flows such as Goods Receipt, Goods Issue, ASN Processing, and Stock Movements. Create, manage, and parameterize test data sets?(materials, batches, storage bins, delivery numbers, vendor IDs, customer IDs, IDoc payloads, Kafka event messages) ensuring data integrity across repeated test cycles. Maintain structured version control and documentation?for all scripts, test data files, correlation rules, execution settings, and environment-specific configurations using Git, Confluence, or repository standards.
?Test Environment Setup & Validation

Validate test environment readiness with the support of Basis and Infra teams. Verify SAP system configurations (work processes, logon groups) and ensure GCP resources are appropriately allocated. Coordinate with environment teams to confirm connectivity, user access, and interface availability before execution. Support test data refresh and environment cleanup activities.
?Test Execution & Monitoring

Execute different types of performance tests aEUR"?Load, Stress, Endurance, and Failover tests?aEUR" across SAP and non-SAP systems. Monitor system performance during test runs using tools such as?Dynatrace, Grafana, SAP ST03/ST12/STAD. Track and log transaction throughput, response time, and error rates during execution. Capture system resource utilization across application, database, and middleware layers. Ensure proper logging, evidence capture, and adherence to test governance during execution.
?Analysis & Reporting

Analyze test results to identify bottlenecks in application, API, database, and network layers. Correlate findings with Dynatrace traces, SAP Workload Analysis, and HANA DB performance statistics. Prepare performance summary reports including observations, root cause hypotheses, and improvement recommendations. Highlight deviations from SLAs and work with the Test Lead and development teams to retest after fixes. Maintain an issue tracker for performance defects and assist in validation of post-tuning test runs.
Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

Work closely with the?Performance Test Lead, SAP Basis, Integration, and Infrastructure teams to troubleshoot bottlenecks. Participate in regular performance review meetings and provide technical updates on execution progress. Support test automation and CI/CD integration of performance tests (using Jenkins or equivalent). Contribute to the maintenance of reusable test assets, data sets, and performance reports in the project repository. Continuously upskill on new tools, SAP modules, and GCP performance monitoring features.
?Experience & Qualifications

4- 7 years of experience in Performance Testing and Analysis, with?2+ years in SAP S/4HANA environment. Hands-on experience scripting and executing with?LoadRunner?and?JMeter. Good understanding of?SAP business transactions?(MM, SD, WM, FI) and?HANA database behavior. Working knowledge of monitoring and troubleshooting via?Dynatrace, Grafana, and SAP ST03/STAD. Exposure to?API performance testing?(OData, REST, Kafka). Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret logs and performance metrics. BacheloraEUR(TM)s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent.
