The Opportunity
Most students in India experience mathematics as a series of formulas to memorize and procedures to execute. By Grade 10, many have concluded they're not math people. They can perform calculations, but they've never felt the joy of mathematical thinking.
We're building something different in our program. We work with students in Grades 6-10 who are at a crucial developmental stage: capable of abstract thinking, hungry for intellectual challenge, but still forming their identities as learners. This is when we can transform their relationship with mathematics.
You'll work with small groups (not 40-student classrooms), which means you can actually know each student. Their strengths. Their misconceptions. How they think. Then you'll personalize your approach to help each one build genuine mathematical understanding and confidence.
What You'll Do
? Teach math the way you wish you'd learned it. Design lessons where students discover concepts through exploration, not just receive them through lecture. Help them see the why behind the what. Make connections between topics visible.
? Personalize instruction for each student. With smaller groups, you can diagnose exactly where a student gets stuck. Is it a conceptual gap? A procedural error? A confidence issue? Then address that specific need rather than teaching to the middle.
? Learn and apply the science of learning. We'll train you in evidence-based teaching approaches. You'll implement this research in your classroom.
? Make math joyful. Not entertaining or easy, but joyful in the way that solving a hard puzzle is joyful. Help students experience that moment when pieces click together. When they see a pattern they've never noticed. When they solve a problem they thought was impossible.
? Collaborate with a strong team. Work alongside other passionate educators, get regular feedback from founders with IIT-IIM backgrounds, share what's working, improve what isn't.
Background We're Looking For
Strong preference:
Engineering degree, mathematics degree, or master's in a quantitative field. These backgrounds typically indicate both mathematical depth and problem-solving ability.
But here's what matters most:
If you love mathematics deeply and can demonstrate that love through how you think about and communicate mathematical ideas, we want to talk, regardless of your formal credentials.
Teaching experience:
Welcome but not required. We're open to both experienced educators who want to teach in a more personalized, research-informed way AND career changers who are passionate about mathematics and ready to learn how to teach it effectively.
