The Opportunity


Whether you're refining processes, supporting leaders, or helping shape our people initiatives, you'll be making a meaningful impact every day. As our People & Capability Advisor, you'll provide generalist HR advice across the full employee lifecycle, supporting leaders with matters such as employment relations, performance, remuneration, recruitment, and policy interpretation. You'll be a trusted first point of contact, helping people leaders navigate HR processes confidently and consistently.


This role sits at the heart of our People Operations team, bridging operational support and strategic delivery. You'll contribute to the implementation of our new HRIS, support continuous improvement of systems and documentation, and play a key role in ensuring our people practices are fit-for-purpose and future-focused. You'll work closely with the People & Capability Coordinator and Business Partners, collaborating to deliver high-quality, customer-focused HR services across Council.

About You

Our ideal candidate will be comfortable juggling multiple priorities, taking initiative, and not afraid to roll up your sleeves and get stuck into the mahi. You'll demonstrate sound judgement, professionalism, and discretion, and be committed to delivering great experiences for our people. A flexible, solutions-focused approach and a willingness to support across the team will be key to your success.


You'll have at least three years' experience in an HR advisory role, along with a relevant tertiary qualification.

This is a permanent, full time role working 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday. You will be based in Napier.


The annual salary package for this role is between $96,800-$107,500 (including KiwiSaver), with the final offer depending on your skills and experience.
