.Role Responsibilities

The People Analytics Data Scientist is an integral member of the wider People Insights and Analytics (PIA) function. The role holder will work closely with stakeholders across PIA and HR, supporting the development and build of advanced analytics solutions which support key business problems and the delivery of actionable insights. The role will require a proactive data scientist who is a self-starter with relevant experience and exceptional technical skills.

Strategy*

  • Support the delivery of advanced analytics products, supporting the HR strategy of building a data-led HR function
  • Build advanced analytics solutions to key business problems, supporting the evolution of the team from descriptive to prescriptive analysis and models, delivering data-driven insight and best in class products
Business*
  • Form and manage ongoing relationships with senior stakeholders across HR and the business
  • Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high level information into details, abstract up from low level information to a general understanding and distinguish user requests from the underlying true business needs
  • Successfully engage in multiple initiatives simultaneously, working across multiple stakeholders, locations and delivery cycles
  • Work closely with various business teams to seek opportunities for additional data integrations and drive these requests to the right teams for delivery
Processes*
  • Develop and implement robust diagnostic, predictive & prescriptive solutions that are repeatable & scalable
  • Ensure that the solution produces insights that the business can interpret and execute on
  • Communicate with stakeholders to understand the challenges they face and present clear data/visualisations to convince them of clear strategies and solutions
  • Translate ambiguous statements into structured problem statements and testable hypotheses
  • Apply quantitative analysis, and data mining to extract, capture and understand data to form an opinion and derive relevant insights
  • Measure the impact and effectiveness of implemented recommendations
People & Talent *
  • Partner with other teams in Standard Chartered to deliver analytics and products, operating within multidisciplinary squads including data scientists, product managers, agile delivery managers and HR business partners and data governance leads.

  • Understand and adhere to HR data privacy, governance, and control policies particularly in relation to data storage and delivery. Ensure that the work we are doing is in line with our purpose and values

Training, licenses, memberships and certifications
  • Degree/Master's educated in data science, statistics, mathematics, computer science or related
  • 5+ years' experience in delivering data science solutions
  • Comprehensive understanding and hands on experience of using statistical techniques and building machine learning models
  • Hands on experience in application of advanced analytics methodologies: Clustering, Time Series Forecasting, Multivariate Regression, Logistic Regression, Linear & Non-Linear Optimisation, ML Models like Random Forest, GBM, SVM, XGBoost, etc.
  • Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, R, and knowledge of basic libraires for statistical modelling + associated tools such as Jupyter, Git, Pytest
  • Natural Language Processing, Topic Modelling
  • Dataiku AI & ML Platform experience
  • English language proficiency
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to make complex situations simple, understood and embraced
  • Ability to explain statistical and machine learning techniques to non-technical stakeholders
