Job Title: PD Merchant (Product Development Merchant)

Job Summary:

The PD Merchant will be responsible for managing the entire product development process -- from concept and design inputs to final sampling and buyer approvals -- for handicrafts and home decor products. The role requires strong coordination between design, production, and vendor teams to ensure timely development of new collections as per buyer requirements and market trends.

Key Responsibilities:

Understand buyer requirements, design briefs, and seasonal themes to develop innovative handicraft and home decor products. Coordinate with the design and sampling teams for new product development across materials such as wood, metal, glass, fabric, and mixed media. Source new materials, finishes, and techniques to enhance product appeal and cost efficiency. Prepare and maintain detailed product costing, BOM (Bill of Material), and T&A (Time & Action) calendars. Manage sampling timelines and ensure samples are developed and dispatched on schedule. Liaise with vendors and artisans for prototype development and technical feasibility. Maintain sample records, costing sheets, and buyer comments for reference and future development. Follow up for buyer approvals, feedback, and necessary revisions on product samples. Ensure quality standards and design accuracy are maintained in every stage of development. Coordinate with production and QA teams to ensure smooth transition from development to bulk production. Keep abreast of market trends, new materials, and competitor developments to support innovation.

Skills & Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Fashion Merchandising, Textile Design, or a related field.

2-5 years of experience in product development or merchandising (export house or manufacturing setup preferred).

Strong understanding of fabrics, trims, and production processes.

Excellent communication and coordination skills.

Proficiency in MS Excel, T&A tracking, and costing.

Good sense of aesthetics and trend awareness.

Ability to multitask and manage multiple developments under tight deadlines.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
