Job Description

PCM Operator for Blast Furnance needed for a reknown steel plant company

Gender - Male/Female both

Qlfn - Higher Secondary / Graduate (must)

Exp - Experience in Blast Furnance Handling of 3 to 6 years

Key Responsibilities:

Process Monitoring & Control

Blast pressure and temperature Top gas temperature and composition (CO, CO?, H?, N?, etc.) Burden charging sequence and stockline levels Hot blast temperature and flow rate Oxygen enrichment, PCI (Pulverized Coal Injection), and natural gas rates Hearth temperature and cooling water circuits Ensure stable and smooth furnace operation by making timely adjustments as per standard operating parameters (SOPs).

2. Process Optimization

Identify process deviations and coordinate with field operators and engineers to restore normal conditions. Optimize fuel rate, slag volume, and gas utilization efficiency. Support production targets while maintaining coke rate and productivity.

3. Coordination & Communication

Maintain continuous communication with:

Field Operators

for on-ground process changes.

Power House / Utilities

for blast air, oxygen, and steam coordination.

Raw Material Handling

for burden charging sequence adjustments.

Maintenance & Instrumentation Teams

for equipment troubleshooting. Report abnormal process conditions immediately to the Shift Engineer.

4. Data Logging & Reporting

Record and log hourly and shift-wise process parameters. Generate reports for hot metal production, fuel rate, slag ratio, and downtime. Assist in root cause analysis for any process disturbances or production shortfalls.

5. Safety & Compliance

Follow all safety procedures and PPE requirements in the control room and plant areas. Report any unsafe conditions or process alarms promptly. Ensure compliance with environmental and operational standards.

Skills & Competencies

Strong knowledge of blast furnace process and control parameters. Analytical and troubleshooting skills. Ability to interpret process trends and graphs. Effective communication and teamwork.
