Role Synopsis:



We're modernizing and simplifying the way we run People and Culture in bp and our Global P&C solutions and services team is at the heart of new ways of working. Every effort is taken to ensure consistency and standardization of the HR processes across the globe. However, we understand that every country has its unique legal, fiscal and regulatory requirements and there is a need to support them.

The Payroll SME is accountable for the payroll processing and local administration activities for local country entities. This role is responsible to ensure payroll is processed

Key Accountabilities:




Support with the procedures of preparation, documentation, and disbursement
of all payroll checks, payroll taxes, and employee benefit payments
Perform reconciliation and validation of data according to predefined payroll
processing procedures and standards
Compliance payments: compute and validate to ensure accurate and timely
payments to the statutory authorities like EPFO, Professional taxes, income tax,
etc.
Perform validation on payroll outputs, bank files, payroll journals, etc.
Responsible for handling third-party payroll vendors and acting as a liaison in the resolution of payroll problems between vendors and bp
Work with cross-functional teams like Finance, Treasury, Tax, and Legal
teams to formulate processes/policies
Resolve difficult payroll issues that have been called out or are difficult to interpret
Handle exit administration such as resignation, retirement, redundancy, etc.
Handle the third-party administration processing such as vendor invoicing and coordination with Finance for payment, etc.
Provides operational support and inputs to local country Centre of Excellence
(CoEs)
Responsible for employee communication for any updates in relation to payrol and local statutory. This includes drafting communication and advising Country HR and Communication team before releasing it to the targeted audience
Responsible for ensuring the Business Continuity Plan (BCP) is constantly reviewed, updated, and tested to ensure BCP readiness.
Ensures proper documentation and compliance for internal controls and audits
Ensures proper governmental reporting and compliance
Identify, analyze and improve the existing process by recommending and
implementing solutions in an innovative and logical manner
Find opportunities to improve service to deliver a better customer
experience and better efficiency
Implement and assess the Quality framework to ensure Quality Assurance,
Quality Audit, Quality improvement and Knowledge management initiatives are running effectively

Essential Education:





A university degree or professional qualification, in human resources management or its equivalent.


Minimum of 8-10 years of relevant previous experience in handling Indian


employment law, statutory and effective HR

Essential Experience and Job Requirements:




Demonstrates capability in line with the HR Capability Framework, with an equal blend of EQ, IQ and drive.



Technical Capability

Deep understanding of Indian Payroll, legislation, taxation, payroll


accounting, and payroll controls to ensure timely and accurate payments

Breadth and depth across the local regulatory requirements and able to


provide professional advice and act as a coach to others in most of the


areas

Prior experience in HR Shared Service center in a multi-national organization

Experience in being responsible for payroll systems - Workday, Excelity and ADP, SAP are desirable

Proven track record in delivering high-quality customer experience

Analytical thinking -able to quickly and optimally generate and analyze data to


provide accurate and timely information to advise business decisions

Digital fluency - not only comfortable and competent in using technology to


Enable and enhance ways of working and thinking, also comfortable in the wider digital environment and the collaborate with a business transformation including people, processes and data- driven actions.

Risk Management - acts with a high level of integrity and respect for data


privacy. Takes steps to mitigate risks in this space and knows when to raise any concerns.

Proficient knowledge of CRM systems, MS Office

Intermediate / advanced of Reporting and analytics

Intermediate / advanced of Payroll

Intermediate / advanced knowledge of Workday, SAP and other HR management system

A continuous improvement approach; seeking simple, 'best fit' solutions to


challenges
