The Payroll Manager will ensure accurate, timely, and compliant payroll operations for employees across India, managing the end-to-end process through an outsourced payroll vendor. They will address calculation accuracy, statutory compliance (PF, ESI, PT, LWF, Income Tax/TDS), ESOPs and resolve payroll escalations.
This role works closely with Finance, HRBPs, and the external payroll provider to deliver a seamless monthly payroll experience. They will also drive continuous improvements in payroll controls, reporting, and data accuracy.

What You Will Do
+ Manage and oversee the payroll vendor to ensure accurate monthly payroll processing, including validation of inputs and final outputs.
+ Ensure full statutory compliance for India payroll (PF, ESI, PT, LWF, TDS, Gratuity, Bonus), including timely filings and audit readiness.
+ Lead payroll data integrity, reconciliation, and approval processes, ensuring zero errors and strong internal controls.
+ Drive resolution of payroll issues, employee queries, and tax-related escalations in coordination with vendor and HR teams.
+ Collaborate with Finance for month-end reporting, accruals, payroll cost analysis, and audit requirements.
+ Maintain and improve payroll SOPs, workflows, and compliance documentation for operational consistency.
+ Partner with HRBPs and business leaders to support compensation changes, organizational updates, and headcount planning.

What You Will Need
+ 8-13 years of experience in India payroll operations, including vendor management and statutory compliance.
+ Strong knowledge of India payroll laws, ESOPs, and statutory components (PF, ESOP, ESI, PT, LWF, TDS, PT, Gratuity, Bonus Act, Shops & Establishment).
+ Hands-on experience with payroll systems and HRIS platforms (e.g., ADP, SAP, Darwinbox, Workday, or similar).
+ Advanced Excel skills with ability to perform reconciliation and data audits.
+ Strong stakeholder management and communication skills to work with HR, Finance, and external vendors.
+ High attention to detail, confidentiality, and ability to manage monthly deadlines under pressure.
+ Experience in a large, multi-state organization preferred.
