The Payroll Executive is responsible for managing and executing the organization's payroll processes accurately and on time. This role ensures compliance with statutory requirements, maintains payroll records, resolves payroll-related queries, and coordinates with HR, Finance, and external agencies.
Key Responsibilities
Process monthly/bi-weekly payroll for employees, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
Maintain employee payroll records, including salary revisions, deductions, and bonuses
Calculate statutory deductions such as PF, ESI, TDS, professional tax, and other applicable taxes
Ensure compliance with labor laws and statutory regulations
Prepare and submit statutory returns and reports within deadlines
Handle payroll-related queries and resolve discrepancies
Coordinate with HR for attendance, leave, new joiners, exits, and salary changes
Generate pay slips, payroll reports, and MIS for management
Support audits by providing payroll data and documentation
Manage full & final settlements and gratuity calculations (if applicable)
Required Skills & Competencies
Strong knowledge of payroll processes and statutory compliance
Familiarity with payroll software and MS Excel
Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
Ability to handle confidential information with integrity
Good analytical and problem-solving skills
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Time management and ability to meet deadlines
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Finance, Accounting, or Human Resources
Certification in Payroll Management (preferred)
Experience
6 months or 1-3 years of experience in payroll processing or a similar role
Experience handling payroll for medium to large organizations is an advantage.
