Purpose of the role:


The primary purpose of this role is to provide oversight and reporting to management to evidence that there is a robust risk and control framework in UK Payment Services, as well as deployment oversight of all regulatory and audit related issues as well as Payment Transparency reporting for the UK.

In this role, you will:



Impact to Business -

Understand Management Information (MI) requirements to produce, analyze, and interpret MI. Maintain the highest standards of audit and compliance requirements for UK teams.Motivate and develop teams in influence to meet requirements from a L1 and L2 controls perspective.Manage process walkthroughs, work reviews, and checks to ensure control effectiveness. Manage training and education related to risk awareness, ops preparedness, and spread awareness / understanding on controls.To handle enquiries related to risk, partner with ops on audits, and liaise with the associated Business Area teams as necessary.Perform other projects or special assignments as required.Responsible for ensuring all data requirements surrounding risk and controls, and audit evidence preparation. Analyze and share UK Payment Transparency reports with LOB Ensure controls reflect risk appetite of LOBs Costs are managed and losses are within established risk appetite. Undertake reviews or samples of control monitoring to ensure that it is being undertaken and evidence effectiveness of the control. Working with the UKPS team to design key measures and tools to evidence control effectiveness.

Customers (External/Internal) -

Assist LOBs to understand Payments to ensure that their key risks are being adequately controlled. Provide assurance to governance forums by provision of current control environment.Awareness of SMR responsibilities.

Leadership and Teamwork -

Provide assurance to management in relation to the control environment. Provide data that enables issues to be pro-actively addressed (to prevent unknown issues being reported at senior forums). Pro-actively monitor and report on the control environment.

This is the primary focus of the role and this requires a basic knowledge of Risk (Operational and other risk types). Regulatory requirements and of the policies and procedures of the bank/Group.

Observation of Internal Controls (Compliance Policy / FIM requirements)-

This is the primary focus of the role and this requires a basic knowledge of Risk (Operational and other risk types) Regulatory requirements and of the policies and procedures of the bank/Group. UK payment process huge numbers of payments amounting to a value of several trillions (GBP) per annum. This is done in an increasingly regulatory environment. The jobholder will also adhere to and be able to demonstrate adherence to internal controls. This will be achieved by adherence to all relevant procedures, keeping appropriate records, and, where appropriate, by the timely implementation of internal and external audit points, including issues raised by external regulators. The jobholder will implement the Group compliance policy by containing compliance risk in liaison with the Global Head of Compliance, Global Compliance Officer, Area Compliance Officer, or Local Compliance Officer. The term 'compliance' embraces all relevant financial services laws, rules, and codes with which the business has to comply. This will be achieved by adhering to all relevant processes/procedures and by liaising with the Compliance department about new business initiatives at the earliest opportunity. Also, and when applicable, by ensuring adequate resources are in place and training is provided, fostering a compliance culture and optimizing relations with regulators.
