The Pathology Technician is responsible for preparing and examining tissue, blood, and body fluid samples under the supervision of a pathologist. The role includes specimen collection, processing, staining, and maintaining laboratory equipment to ensure accurate diagnostic results.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Collect and label specimens (blood, tissue, fluids) for analysis.
Prepare slides and tissue samples for microscopic examination.
Perform staining, sectioning, and embedding of specimens.
Operate and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment.
Record, analyze, and report results accurately in laboratory systems.
Maintain cleanliness and sterility in the lab environment.
Follow all safety and infection control protocols.
Assist pathologists in preparing reports and managing lab data.
Maintain stock levels of lab supplies and reagents.
Ensure proper waste disposal according to biomedical waste regulations.
Qualifications:
Diploma or B.Sc. in Medical Laboratory Technology (DMLT/BMLT).
Certification or licensure as per local/state regulations.
1-3 years of relevant lab experience preferred.
Skills Required:
Sound knowledge of pathology lab procedures and techniques.
Familiarity with laboratory equipment and medical software.
Attention to detail and accuracy in sample handling.
Strong organizational and documentation skills.
Ability to work independently and in a team.
Good communication and adherence to ethical standards.
