Interpret and validate laboratory test results including:
Hematology, Biochemistry, Immunology, Serology, Microbiology (as applicable)
Review and authorize routine and specialized diagnostic reports
Provide clinical correlation and consultation to referring physicians
Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and consistency of lab reports
Handle critical value reporting and clinical escalations
Laboratory Operations
Supervise daily laboratory operations and technical staff
Ensure adherence to SOPs, quality standards, and turnaround times (TAT)
Oversee sample processing, testing, validation, and reporting workflows
Participate in equipment validation, calibration, and maintenance oversight
Quality & Compliance
Ensure compliance with NABL, CAP (if applicable), and statutory guidelines
Participate in internal audits, external audits, and corrective actions
Maintain quality control (IQC, EQAS) and documentation
Support accreditation activities and regulatory inspections
People & Training
Guide, mentor, and train lab technicians and junior doctors
Participate in competency assessments and performance reviews
Promote a culture of quality, ethics, and patient safety
Administrative & Coordination
Coordinate with clinicians, operations, and management teams
Support introduction of new tests, methods, and technologies
Maintain confidentiality and ethical medical practices at all times
Educational Qualification
MD / DNB in Pathology
(Mandatory)
Valid Medical Council Registration (State / NMC)
Experience
1-5 years
for junior pathologist roles
5+ years
preferred for senior / lead pathologist roles
Experience in a
diagnostic center or hospital lab setup
is an advantage
