Job Title: MD Pathologist

Job Summary



The MD Pathologist will be responsible for accurate laboratory diagnosis, microscopic evaluation, quality assurance, client communication, and overall medical supervision of pathology services. The role requires strong diagnostic expertise, leadership skills, and compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.

Key Responsibilities



1. Diagnostic & Microscopy Responsibilities



Perform and validate

microscopic examination

of Peripheral blood smears Urine sediments & body fluids, FNAC smears, Semen analysis Correlate microscopic findings with

clinical history and analyzer data

. Identify and report

critical and urgent findings

promptly. Authorize and sign out final laboratory reports.

2. Laboratory Management & Quality



Act as

medical in-charge

of the pathology laboratory. Ensure compliance with

NABL / ISO 15189

standards (if applicable). Monitor

IQC, EQAS, audits, CAPA

, and documentation. Oversee validation, calibration, and maintenance of laboratory instruments. Ensure adherence to

biomedical waste management and lab safety norms

.

3. Client & Clinician Communication



Communicate critical results to clinicians within defined TAT. Address client, clinician, and patient queries professionally. Handle complaints and ensure documentation and resolution. Participate in clinicopathological meetings and case discussions.

4. Staff Management & Training



Supervise lab technologists, phlebotomists, and support staff. Conduct training, competency assessment, and performance monitoring. Ensure staff adherence to SOPs, quality, and safety policies. Support recruitment, scheduling, and duty allocation. Support introduction of new tests and technologies. Maintain confidentiality and ethical standards at all times.

Qualifications & Experience



MD Pathology

(DNB Pathology acceptable as per institution policy) Registration with State Medical Council / NMC Minimum

0-5 years experience

(freshers / experienced both can apply) Experience in

histopathology, hematology, and cytology

preferred NABL lab experience is an added advantage

Key Skills Required



Strong diagnostic and microscopic skills Knowledge of quality systems and accreditation Effective communication and leadership Attention to detail and ethical practice Ability to work independently and in a team
