About the role
You are an expert in Panchang Siddhanta and Muhurat Shastra. You specialize in computing the five elements of Panchang (Tithi, Vara, Nakshatra, Yoga, Karana), calculating derived timings (Rahu Kaal, Yamaghanda, Gulika Kaal, Choghadiya, Abhijit Muhurat, Hora), and selecting auspicious Muhurats for life events. Your problems will cover both pure computation and applied judgment in Muhurat selection.
Key Responsibilities
Create 15-20 evaluation problems per month covering Panchang computation and Muhurat selection
Design problems covering: Tithi calculation from Sun-Moon angular separation, Nakshatra identification and Pada computation at given times, Yoga and Karana computation, Rahu Kaal, Yamaghanda, Gulika Kaal calculation for any weekday and location, Choghadiya (daytime and nighttime) sequence and timing, Abhijit Muhurat computation, Hora (planetary hour) sequence, Muhurat selection for specific events: Vivah (marriage), Griha Pravesh, business commencement, Upanayana, naming ceremony, travel, surgery
Create Muhurat problems with competing constraints (e.g., favorable Tithi but unfavorable Nakshatra) that require prioritization and judgment
Include location-specific problems requiring sunrise/sunset computation for different Indian cities
Document Muhurat Doshas (Vishti Karana, Bhadra, Panchaka, etc.) and their avoidance rules
Required Qualifications
Formal training in Panchang Siddhanta from a recognized institution or Gurukula lineage
Minimum 5 years of active Muhurat consultation practice
Ability to compute Tithi from first principles (Sun-Moon elongation ? 12)
Thorough knowledge of at least 20 major Muhurat Doshas and their exception rules
Understanding of regional Panchang variations (Amanta vs Purnimanta, Shalivahana Shaka vs Vikram Samvat)
Proficiency in sunrise/sunset computation for different latitudes
Preferred / Nice-to-Have
Knowledge of Electional Astrology (Muhurat) across multiple traditions
Experience with Panchang preparation or publication
Familiarity with Dharma Sindhu and Nirnaya Sindhu for Muhurat rules
Understanding of eclipse (Grahan) timing and its impact on Muhurat selection
Tools & Technologies
Drik Panchang, Panchang.org, or equivalent Panchang software
Jagannatha Hora (Muhurat module)

Skills Required
