The Aravanaippu Project is an initiative by the Coimbatore Cancer Foundation (CCF) aimed at providing holistic, compassionate, and accessible palliative care to patients with life-limiting
illnesses. The project emphasizes community outreach, home-based care, psychological support,
and integration of palliative care into mainstream oncology.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide comprehensive palliative care consultations to patients during home visits.
Develop and implement individualized care plans in coordination with the
interdisciplinary team.
Guide and support pain and symptom management, including prescribing and monitoring
medications.
Collaborate with oncologists, primary care physicians, nurses, counsellors, and
volunteers to ensure continuity of care.
Participate in family meetings and end-of-life discussions with empathy and sensitivity.
Provide training and mentorship to healthcare staff, volunteers, and caregivers.
Support and contribute to awareness programs, community outreach, and capacity-
building initiatives.
Maintain accurate medical records, reports, and documentation as per project guidelines.
Engage in continuous quality improvement and research activities related to palliative care.
Required Qualifications:
MBBS with MD/DNB in Palliative Medicine with certification/training in Palliative Care.
Minimum 2 years of relevant clinical experience in palliative or hospice care.
