Position Overview



The

Supervisor - Paint Shop

is responsible for supervising daily paint shop operations, ensuring proper surface preparation, paint application, curing, and finishing processes. The role involves managing manpower, coordinating with production, maintaining quality standards, ensuring safety compliance, and optimizing workflow in the paint shop.

Key Responsibilities1. Paint Shop Operations



Oversee surface preparation, masking, painting, and curing processes. Ensure proper operation of paint booths, spray guns, ovens, and related equipment. Monitor paint viscosity, coating thickness, and curing parameters. Maintain smooth workflow and coordinate with production to meet targets.

2. Manpower Management



Supervise operators, helpers, and technicians in the paint shop. Allocate tasks, monitor attendance, and ensure skill development of the team. Train staff on paint application techniques, safety, and quality standards.

3. Quality Assurance



Ensure painted components meet quality standards, specifications, and appearance criteria. Inspect for defects such as runs, sags, orange peel, uneven coating, or contamination. Implement corrective actions in coordination with the QA team. Maintain first-piece inspection and in-process quality checks.

4. Safety & Compliance



Enforce safety practices, including PPE usage, proper ventilation, and chemical handling. Ensure compliance with environmental, fire, and occupational safety regulations. Maintain 5S, cleanliness, and housekeeping in the paint shop.

5. Equipment & Material Handling



Ensure proper maintenance and handling of paint guns, spray booths, ovens, and related tools. Monitor paint stock, thinner, and other consumables; coordinate replenishment as needed.

6. Reporting & Documentation



Maintain production records, quality reports, material usage logs, and downtime notes. Update daily paint shop performance reports in ERP or production systems. Report issues such as rework, machine downtime, or material shortages to management.

7. Continuous Improvement



Identify opportunities to improve paint quality, reduce defects, and optimize workflow. Support Kaizen, 5S, and lean initiatives. Suggest improvements in equipment, painting methods, and processes.

Qualifications & Experience



ITI / Diploma in Mechanical, Production, Paint Technology, or related field. 5-8 years of experience in paint shop operations (manufacturing industry preferred). Hands-on experience with spray painting, powder coating, or liquid painting. Knowledge of paint application techniques, curing processes, and quality standards.

Skills & Competencies



Strong knowledge of paint shop operations and equipment. Ability to read technical drawings and specifications. Good leadership and team supervision skills. Problem-solving, decision-making, and communication skills. Awareness of safety standards, environmental regulations, and 5S practices.
