The Packing & Dispatch Manager will lead and manage the packing, loading, and outbound logistics operations for all products. The role demands strong experience in packing standards, dispatch planning, coordination with transporters, and ensuring timely and error-free shipment of finished goods. The candidate should be able to independently manage the team and streamline dispatch workflows.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Packing Operations Management
Supervise and optimize packing of wire coils, spools, and drums as per customer and industry standards.
Ensure adherence to quality norms for packaging, labelling, and identification.
Implement improved packing techniques to reduce transit damages and material handling issues.
Monitor availability of packing materials and ensure timely procurement.
2. Dispatch & Logistics Control
Plan, schedule, and execute dispatches based on customer orders, deadlines, and transporter availability.
Coordinate with transporters for vehicle planning, loading supervision, and route compliance.
Ensure error-free documentation including invoices, challans, e-way bills, packing lists, and dispatch slips.
Monitor turnaround time (TAT) and optimize dispatch cycle efficiency.
3. Inventory & Warehouse Coordination
Maintain accurate FG (Finished Goods) inventory records in ERP/WMS.
Lead stock verification, cycle counts, and discrepancy resolutions.
Improve warehouse organization, FIFO/FEFO practices, and space utilization.
4. Compliance, Safety & Standards
Ensure dispatch operations comply with internal SOPs and statutory logistics requirements.
Enforce safety standards, material handling guidelines, and 5S practices.
Ensure correct load balancing and safe securing of goods during transport.
5. Team Leadership & Skill Development
Lead, train, and supervise packing staff, helpers, and loaders.
Allocate manpower and monitor performance to achieve daily KPIs.
Resolve operational issues and ensure smooth workflow during peak loads.
6. Cross-Functional Coordination
Collaborate closely with Production, PPC, QA, and Sales teams.
Communicate dispatch priorities, shortages, and delivery commitments.
Handle customer-specific packing requirements and special dispatch instructions.
7. Reporting & Continuous Improvement
Prepare daily/weekly/monthly reports: dispatch status, material movement, transporter performance, and packing productivity.
Analyze process bottlenecks and proactively implement improvements.
Reduce customer complaints related to packing, delivery delays, or damages.
Required Qualifications & Skillset:
Education:
Graduate / Diploma / BE (Mechanical, Production, or relevant field preferred).
Experience:
8-10 years
in Packing, Warehouse, or Logistics operations in a manufacturing environment (wire industry preferred).
Technical Skills:
Strong knowledge of packing material standards, load securing, and transportation norms
Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP/Oracle/Tally or similar)
Good understanding of stock management, documentation, and compliance
