We are currently seeking a Lead Package Engineer, to join our team based in Chennai, India.

Job Purpose

Packages are multidisciplinary units that are defined by their functionality. Every component included in the Package (e.g. pump, compressor, valve, vessel, electric motor, Instrument, control system, etc) is important for the functioning of the unit as a whole system. Package Section is in charge of the management of Package Units on Proposals, FEED and EPC Projects.

The candidate will initially manage the inquiry, the procurement and the detailed engineering phase of simple Units. Inside the Package Units, she/he will therefore progressively manage more complex Package Unit.
Main Key interactions of the Package Engineer are Internally with Project teams, Procurement, Construction and others engineering disciplines. Externally with clients, vendors, suppliers.

About the Job

  • Independently handle the requisitions for various process and utility packages
  • Preparation of Data sheets, Specifications and material Requisitions
  • Preparation of Technical Bid evaluation by vendor offers review, raising Technical clarifications and brining out resolutions
  • Co-ordination with inter disciplines for various requisitions
  • Co-ordination and discussion with Vendors and Client
  • Vendor document management
  • Shop / site inspection and Field Engineering co-ordination.

Responsibilities would be :
  • ensure timely and qualitative preparation of project technical specifications in coordination with other disciplines;
  • prepare the material requisition for inquiry;
  • technical analysis of receipt Bids;
  • Conduct technical clarification meetings with suppliers / manufacturers
  • prepare the material requisition for purchase;
  • Monitor the technical execution of the equipment purchase order by reviewing supplier / manufacturer documentation ensuring proper communication with vendors
  • adhere to the committed man/hours and budget;
  • ensure timely reporting on engineering / requisitioning activities to the Lead Discipline Engineer;
  • meet quality and HSE objectives of the project;
  • interface with other discipline specialist engineers and possibly project support functions such as procurement and planning.

About You

We\'d love to hear from you if your profile meets the following essential requirements:
  • Bachelor\'s Degree in mechanical engineering.
  • It is appreciating a previous experience with minimum 8-12 years working experience in handling Packages like Chemical dosing systems, Cooling Tower, Water treatment packages, Material handling system equipment, Process packages...
  • Candidate should be experienced in preparation of data sheets for vendor packages, enquiry requisitions, review and evaluation of equipment supplier\'s bids, preparing technical evaluation/ recommendation, and reviewing of Vendor documents/drawings.
  • Candidate should have good communication, teamwork and influencing skills.
  • Able to read and write in fluently in English and possess an acceptable level of English speaking to be able to interact with foreign clients and vendors.
  • Candidate should be able to coordinate with all other discipline Engineers for technical inputs and requirements for design engineering.
  • Experience in leading other engineers would be an advantage
