Position Summary:



The Ophthalmic Operation Theatre Assistant supports ophthalmic surgeons during surgical procedures by preparing the operating theatre, maintaining sterile environments, and managing surgical instruments and supplies. This role is crucial to ensuring the smooth, safe, and efficient functioning of the ophthalmic OT.

Key Responsibilities:



Prepare the ophthalmic operation theatre before surgeries by arranging instruments, equipment, and materials Assist in pre-operative patient preparation including positioning and draping Maintain strict aseptic techniques and sterilization standards throughout procedures Hand surgical instruments and materials to the ophthalmic surgeon during operations Manage and sterilize ophthalmic instruments using autoclave and other methods Assist with intra-operative procedures such as cataract, glaucoma, retinal, and oculoplastic surgeries Ensure the proper functioning of OT equipment including operating microscopes, phaco machines(Alcon Legion), and vitrectomy units Support the surgical team in post-operative cleaning and resetting of the theatre Maintain accurate surgical logs, instrument checklists, and inventory records Follow hospital infection control policies and safety guidelines Assist with patient transfer, monitoring, and documentation as needed

Qualifications:



Certificate or Diploma in Operation Theatre Technology (DOTT) or Ophthalmic Assistant program Prior experience in an ophthalmic surgical setting is preferred Familiarity with ophthalmic surgical instruments and equipment Basic understanding of common ophthalmic procedures (e.g., cataract, LASIK, trabeculectomy, vitrectomy) BLS certification is a plus

Surgical theatre environment Requires standing for long durations and handling delicate instruments
May involve early hours, shift rotations, or occasional weekend duties

Pay: ?20,000.00 - ?22,000.00 per month
