An OT (Operation Theatre) Technician prepares the operating room, sterilizes equipment, assists surgeons by passing instruments and managing supplies, ensures a sterile field, and helps with patient positioning, acting as a vital link for smooth, safe surgical procedures by managing logistics, equipment, and technical support before, during, and after operations. Key Responsibilities:

Pre-Surgery:

Prepare and disinfect the operating theatre and equipment. Arrange instruments, drapes, and supplies in an organized, sterile manner. Check and set up all surgical and anesthetic equipment. Assist with patient transport and positioning.

During Surgery:

Act as a sterile "scrub" assistant, passing instruments and supplies to the surgeon. Manage suction, provide technical support, and monitor equipment. Assist the anesthetist by preparing machines and providing fluids/drugs if needed.

Post-Surgery:

Clean and disinfect the theatre for the next case. Dispose of surgical waste and restock supplies. Ensure all equipment is cleaned and ready for reuse.
Essential Skills:

Technical Skills:

Knowledge of surgical tools, sterilization, and medical equipment.

Soft Skills:

Calm under pressure, quick decision-making, attention to detail, strong teamwork, and excellent communication.
Importance:

Ensures patient safety by maintaining strict infection control. Facilitates efficient surgical flow with minimal delays. Allows surgeons and nurses to focus on the patient by managing the technical aspects of the OR.
