Job Description

Pre-operative duties

Prepare the operating room for surgery, including stocking and sterilizing equipment and instruments. Check and adjust surgical equipment and ensure it is fully functional before the procedure. Transport patients to and from the operating room. Assist in preparing patients, including positioning them for the procedure. Assist the anesthesiologist by arranging necessary drugs and equipment.
Intra-operative duties

Provide technical assistance to surgeons and the surgical team during the operation. Pass instruments and other necessary supplies to the surgeon as needed. Maintain a sterile environment and ensure the surgical site remains clean and dry. Monitor patient safety and assist the nursing staff.
Post-operative duties

Clean and disinfect the operating room area and equipment after each procedure. Properly handle and dispose of surgical instruments, waste, and hazardous materials. Restock the operating room with necessary supplies. Report any defective equipment for repair or replacement.
General duties and skills

Maintain accurate inventory records for materials, consumables, and drugs. Coordinate with other hospital departments regarding surgical patients. Demonstrate strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills. Be able to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
