Job Description

OT technicians ensure the operating room is ready before surgery, and help bring the patient to the room. OT technicians prepare patients, monitor equipment during procedures, and handle instruments. OT technicians follow strict guidelines for sterilizing and disinfecting instruments and surfaces, practice proper hand hygiene, and ensure the operating room is properly ventilated. OT technicians maintain and prepare operating theater equipment before or after surgery. OT technicians ensure that the lighting, sound, and other technical aspects of theater performances run safely, smoothly, and on time. OT technicians keep the operating room clean and tidy, report on and off duty at the control desk, help in rooms by opening cases or by assisting with the available inventory, check bulletin boards on a daily basis for notices and schedule changes, and keep up with new techniques and procedures.
