Key Responsibilities

Supervision and Coordination:

Supervise, guide, and coordinate the work of junior OT technicians and nursing staff. Allocate duties and prepare duty rosters for the team.

Pre-operative Preparation:

Ensure the OT is fully prepared for surgeries, including arranging instruments, sterile equipment, and consumables. Verify the functionality and readiness of all equipment and supplies.

Assistance During Surgery:

Provide technical assistance to surgeons and the nursing staff during procedures by handing instruments and consumables. Maintain the sterile field and follow strict aseptic techniques.

Sterilization and Infection Control:

Monitor and ensure strict adherence to sterilization protocols and infection control measures. Conduct regular physical verification of all OT equipment and maintain fumigation records.

Inventory and Maintenance:

Manage and maintain inventory of surgical instruments and consumables, ensuring timely requisitions. Report any defective equipment or instruments for repair or replacement to the OT in-charge.

Patient Safety and Comfort:

Assist with patient transfer and positioning on the operating table, ensuring patient safety and comfort. Actively participate in the "Time Out" safety checklist before surgery begins.
